Research of similar band music videos:
The Vaccines - Norgaard (Video):
·        Retro items and fashion
·        Performance shots
·        All in one location, room designed for still photography (white background), Dark retro room around the edges
·        Doesn’t really relate to the song
·        Fits with Codes and conventions for music genre
The Vaccines - If You Wanna (Video):
·        All Performance
·        Different shot types
·        Blue, orange and red backgrounds (Use of light)
·        Possibly on a rooftop?
·        Fits with Codes and conventions for music genre

The Vaccines - Post Break-Up Sex (Video):
·        Performance in the house
·        Shots of female – Crying, depressed, upset, sat on her own in the bedroom
·        Fit with the Lyrics
·        Fits with Codes and conventions for music genre

The Vaccines - Blow It Up (Video):
·        Retro performance
·        Band members in an individual spotlight
·        Majority of shots have at least one band member in
·        Fits with Codes and conventions for music genre
Hot Chili Peppers – Can’t Stop (Video): (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfOdWSiyWoc&ob=av3e)
·        An equal mix between performance and narrative
·        Narrative doesn’t relate to the song lyrics
·        Narrative shots are very abstract, e.g. Band members running with light fittings on their back
·        Performance in a plain white room
·        Fits with Codes and conventions for music genre
·        Many different shot types of the band e.g. CU, LS etc
·        Fits with Codes and conventions for music genre
Arctic Monkeys – Brianstorm: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30w8DyEJ__0)
·        Performance shots
·        Dance routines, going against typical code and conventions for this music genre
·        Bright colours during dance scenes
·        Shot of science-related moving images – irrelevant to the lyrics of the song
·        Despite the dance routines, the video otherwise fits to the codes and conventions to the music genre the song belongs to

 The Lyrics:
      Hanging out some
Underneath European sun
Hanging out under your thumb
Under it, second to none

I don't mind about taking it slow
I’m perfectly aware of what I’m yet to know
Mutually assumed, utterly consumed
Totally adored, Eleanor
Eleanor

Eleanor

Take it in your stride but don't string me along
I wouldn't tie you down but if you did do me wrong
Thoroughly unnerved, equally perturbed
Totally adored, Eleanor
Eleanor

Eleanor

Eleanor

The song is all about how he is willing to do anything to to make/keep the girl his. Although the song lyrics do hold a narrative, I have decided to go against making a music video which follows the lyrics to the track, and instead make the video totally irrelavant and use a mix of performance based shots and an unrelated narrative. This will help to keep the video more entertaining for the target audience as there will be two different aspects to focus on.
